Armon Provo hit a 3-pointer with 6.5 seconds left as Maryville rallied for a thrilling 72-71 victory over Quincy Thursday evening at Moloney Arena. The Hawks had an attempt at the buzzer to win it but their 3-point shot was long, and
Harrison DuPont grabbed the rebound to secure the Saints comeback win.
Quincy led by one until Ja'mil Jones hit a 3-pointer for a 71-67 lead with 1:19 left to play. The Saints pushed the ball up the court, and Provo converted from close on a
Myles Jerrett feed to cut the deficit to 71-69 with 52 seconds left. The Hawks ran the clock down but missed, and the ball bounced out of bounds to give Maryville the possession. After a timeout, Provo caught the ball on the left wing and fired up a 3-pointer that found the bottom of the net to cause the Mania Night crowd to erupt in a wall of sound. Quincy had one final shot but its 3-pointer from the left side bounced off the back of the rim.

The Saints trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half before mounting a big comeback. Still down 55-43 with 13 minutes to play, DuPont hit two free throws. The Saints received a big lift when Jerrett hit a 3-pointer and was fouled. His subsequent free throw brought the deficit down to 55-49, and a
Darrin Young Jr. layup pulled the Saints to 55-51 with 11:52 to play. The Hawks kept the lead until the dramatic heroics by Provo.

Provo finished with 19 points including five 3-pointers to lead the Saints. Young added a career-high 17 points and hit 5-of-6 shots from the field. DuPont and Jerrett both chipped in 10 points apiece. The Saints committed just eight turnovers on the night. Chris Babbitt topped Quincy (6-10, 1-5) with 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Saints improve to 9-4 overall, 3-2 in the GLVC. Maryville is back in action Saturday, Jan. 18, when Truman State visits for a 3 p.m. game.
