Shelby Miller poured in a season-high 27 points but could not prevent the Maryville women's basketball team from an 87-73 loss versus visiting Truman State Saturday afternoon in Moloney Arena. The Bulldogs received a balanced attack which saw five players in double figures.

The Saints trailed by one after a Miller layup but the Bulldogs scored seven straight points during a 12-2 run to build a 29-18 advantage. A 3-pointer by Miller, and a
Samantha Robison layup pulled the Saints back to 29-23. Truman slowly edged its lead back out to 38-27 at halftime.

Three minutes into the second half, a layup by
Rita Flynn and another 3-pointer by Miller cut the deficit to 38-32. Truman State pushed the advantage back to double figures but the Saints made another run. Robison and
Jordynn Martin hit back-to-back 3-pointers to pull Maryville within 46-40 with 13 minutes to play. Miller kept the Saints close with a layup for a 54-46 Truman lead until the Bulldogs scored three straight points to build a double-digit lead. The Saints were unable to cut the margin to single digits as Truman State improved to 11-4 on the season, 5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Allie Norton led the Bulldogs with 17 points, while Amy Briggs and Nicole Gloor both had 16 points.

Miller took advantage at the free-throw line and hit 12-of-13 at the stripe to surpass her previous season best of 25 points. She also handed out six assists. Robison finished with 18 points, while Flynn topped the Saints with seven rebounds.

The Saints (9-7 overall, 2-4 GLVC) are next in action when they head to Missouri S&T, Thursday, Jan. 23.
