The Maryville women battled at No. 9 Drury and but its upset bid fell short 89-83 Saturday afternoon at the O'Reilly Center.
Alex Hillyer finished with 18 points, while
Brittany Fish had a career-high 17 points.

With the score tied at 8-8, Maryville tallied a 10-2 run to surge ahead. After an Hillyer free throw,
Erica Lorton powered up for a layup. Hiller added two free throws, and Hillyer made a layup. A
Joann Thompson 3-pointer built an 18-10 lead. Drury cut the lead to one at the 6:54 mark but the Saints scored seven straight points to build a 10-point lead late. However, the Lady Panthers hit a 3-pointer at the end of the half as Maryville settled for a 48-44 lead after 20 minutes.

Drury began the second half with back-to-back 3-pointers and took their first lead 49-48. The Saints tied the game at 50-all on two
Samantha Robison free throws but Drury answered with five straight. The game stayed close for the majority of the second half and the score was tied at 72-72 on a Lorton layup with six minutes to play. Drury tallied six straight points to retake the edge. The Saints cut the gap to three on a Fish 3-pointer but that would be as close as the Saints would.

Hillyer shot 50 percent and added six rebounds to her 18 points. Fish finished with 17 points and hit five 3-pointers. Kylie Williamson led Drury (16-1, 8-1 GLVC) with 24 points.

The Saints are 10-8, 3-5 in the GLVC and host Rockhurst Thursday at Moloney Arena.
