Evansville, Ind. – After falling behind by as many as 16 points in the second half, Maryville battled all the back only to fall to No. 22 in the country Southern Indiana 64-61 in front of more than 1,800 fans at the PAC Arena in Evansville, Ind., on Thursday night.

Early in the contest, junior guard Armon Provo became the 15th Saints player to crack the 1,000-point barrier while also setting a new school record for career 3- pointers made. Provo hit for 25 points on the night to lead the way for the Saints to join the elite 1,000-point club, while his four triples gave him 179 makes in his career to pass former Saint great Kyle Winters.

The Eagles (18-4, 10-4) used a 11-5 run at the end of the first half to take a 32-22 lead into the halftime locker room. USI was able to extend the lead to sixteen points with just over six minutes remaining in the contest before the Saints began to mount their comeback. Provo hit a fadeaway jumper and then drained a three from the right wing to start Maryville on an 11-0 run and cut the Eagle lead to 55-52 with 3:41 left in the game. Asa Toney added a pair of free throws and a jumper in the lane to aid the run.

After a pair of free throws by Southern Indiana's Lawerence Thomas to put the Eagles back ahead by five points, Toney knocked down a pair of freebies himself with 1:09 left to get Maryville back to within three at 57-54. Thomas came right back and hit a jumper from the foul line to get the USI lead back to five points at 59-55. The Saints continued to battle back with Myles Jerrett drilling a pair from the line to get the game back to three at 59-56. After Evan Brinkmeyer split a pair from the line, Provo hit a layup with eight seconds to cut the lead to 60-58, but Southern Indiana's Thomas scored the last four points of the night to give the Eagles the victory.

Trae Pemberton and Toney joined Provo in double figures with fourteen and eleven points, respectively. Harrison DuPont grabbed a team-high five rebounds for the Saints, who dropped to 11-10, 5-8 on the season. Taylor Wischmeier led the way for the Screaming Eagles with 14 points and a game high 11 boards while Chuck Jones added 12 markers and Thomas finished the night with 10 points.

Maryville returns to action on Saturday afternoon as the Saints travel to Louisville to take on Bellermine at 3:15 p.m. (ET)
