St. Louis - University of Missouri-St. Louis' Femi John hit a tough drive on the right side of the lane with 19 seconds left to hand Maryville a 68-66 loss on Senior Day. The Saints had a jumper from the left wing to tie the game at the buzzer but the attempt misfired as the visiting Tritons escaped with the win. The game drew a Maryville program record 1,612 fans to Moloney Arena.

Up 33-30 at halftime, UMSL stretched its advantage to 41-32 until the Saints charged back into the contest. Trae Pemberton hit a layup and then connected from long distance to pull Maryville to 41-37. UMSL scored a bucket to halt the Saint run, but Armon Provo drilled a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Harrison DuPont threw down a dunk to pull the Saints to within one at 43-42. Maryville tied the game at 45-all on a Melvin Turner 3-pointer but UMSL's Aareon Smith's basket put the visitors back ahead. Provo again answered from beyond the arc as the Saints took the lead and another trey built Maryville a 51-47 margin. The Saints took their biggest lead of the night at 54-48 with 7:53 to go but UMSL slowly rallied and forged a tie at 62-62 to set up a frantic finish.

The Saints had the chance to go ahead with 1:56 to play but missed the front end of a one-and-one. UMSL was fouled on its next possession and hit two free throws but Myles Jerrett tied the game at 64-64 with two from the free-throw line with 1:25 to play. In the final minute, Darian Cartharn was fouled and converted two free throws. DuPont gathered a pass in the lane, turned and drained a jumper to force yet another tie at 66-66 with 43 seconds to play. The Tritons handed the ball to John who drove the right side of the floor and rattled in the go-ahead basket 68-66 with 19 seconds left. The Saints got a good look from the right side but the potential game-tying basket missed its mark.
