After only one run was scored in the first four innings, the Saints and Prairie Stars exploded for a combined 14 runs in the last three innings. UIS led 1-0 after a run in the third before the Saints went ahead with two runs in the fifth. With runners on the corners, Twisselman singled through the right side to bring home
Meredith Brown. Marks reached on a fielder's choice that drove in
Shelby Steinkamp. The Prairie Stars jumped back ahead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth before the Saints offense erupted to put the game away. Marks gave the Saints a 7-4 edge with an RBI double. Maryville put the game away with four runs in the seventh. Taylor had a sac fly, and Twisselman doubled in two more runs for her fifth and sixth RBIs of the game. Taylor worked the final eight outs of the game to record the win in both games of the doubleheader. The Saints set a school record for most hits in a GLVC game with 17, and their 11 runs scored tied the program's record for runs in a league game.
