Box Score Trevecca Nazarene boxscore in PDFMarvin Grant-Clark tallied a career-high 25 points but the Maryville men's basketball team wasn't able to get the potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer as Trevecca Nazarene held on for an 89-86 win to close the Crossover Classic Saturday afternoon.

A hot-shooting Trojan team edged out to a 13-point lead late in the first half before the Saints trimmed the deficit to 48-42 at the half.
Grant Sims hit a jumper, and
Forrester Sims knocked down a triple. The teams traded baskets but Grant-Clark and
Saikou Jallow converted two buckets in the final minute to pull Maryville to six points. The Saints did not allow Trevecca Nazarene to build a double-digit lead in the second half and made a late run. Trailing 78-69, Grant-Clark hit a 3-pointer from the right wing, and Grant Sims sank two free throws. The Trojans made one free throw before
Karson King scored on a backdoor cut off a feed from Jallow to pull the Saints to 79-76 with 2:55 to play.

TNU scored but Grant-Clark nailed a 3-pointer. The Trojans answered with a trey before Grant-Clark scored again in the final minute. TNU hit one free throw with 19 seconds to play for an 85-81 lead.
Max Mischkulnig powered up for a layup but Jalen Palm sank two at the line for an 87-83 lead. Forrester Sims hit a corner 3-pointer with three seconds to go to get to 87-86. The Saints fouled Byron Sanford but he hit both free throws for an 89-86 edge. The Saints inbounded the ball and pushed it up to the offensive end but were unable to get the final shot off at the buzzer.

Grant-Clark hit nine of 13 shots from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, en route to his career best performance. Mischkulnig added 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Forrester Sims finished with 16 points and five assists. King made all four of his shots from the field and handed out a team-high six assists. Byron Sanford paced Trevecca Nazarene with 26 points, seven rebounds and added five assists and three steals.

The Saints (0-2) are next in action Wednesday as they head to St. Charles, Mo., to take on Lindenwood.
