Lindenwood boxscore in PDFThe Maryville men's basketball team made the short trip to St. Charles, Mo., for its first road contest of the season and in search of the first victory of the season. However, host Lindenwood kept the Saints at bay in the second half for an 82-66 win over the Saints.

With the score tied at 8-8,
Damyan Stoyanov scored on a drive, and
Evan Booker, seeing his first action of the year, knocked down a 3-pointer for a 13-8 Saints lead. Lindenwood answered with eight straight to take the lead before Stoyanov hit again.
Marvin Grant-Clark completed a three-point play to pull Maryville to 23-20 but the Lions moved out to a double-digit lead before settling for a 38-30 lead at the break.

The Lions tried to pull away but the Saints stayed close.
Max Mischkulnig powered for a layup at the Saints drew to 45-40. Later, Grant-Clark drilled a triple to keep the Saints in striking distance at 48-43 with 15 minutes to play. However, Lindenwood used another 8-0 to take a double-digit lead and would not let the Saints get closer than 11.

Grant-Clark paced the Saints with 19 points, including knocking down three from 3-point range, and 6-of-7 at the free-throw line. However, he was the only Maryville player in double figures.
Ben Volkman led the Saints with five rebounds, while Booker blocked three shots. Corey Arentsen led the Lions (3-0) with 23 points.

The Saints (0-3) are next in action Friday when they host Robert Morris-Peoria for a 7 p.m. contest at Moloney Area.
