Iowa Wesleyan's Steven Archibald scored a layup with 0.7 seconds left in overtime as the Tigers toppled Maryville 88-87 Monday night. The defeat spoiled a career-high 25-point effort by Forrester Sims for the Saints.

The Saints held a 72-65 lead with three minutes to play in regulation before the Tigers rallied with eight straight points to jump ahead 73-72. Max Mischkulnig scored on a layup but IWU's Brock Butler hit a corner 3-pointer to put the Tigers ahead 76-74 with 28 seconds to go. Marvin Grant-Clark was fouled with 16.7 seconds left in the second half and hit both free throws to force overtime.

In the extra session, IWU took the lead on one free throw until Karson King drilled a 3-pointer for the Saints. Grant-Clark added a layup to put Maryville ahead by four. Iowa Wesleyan's Chris Fowler scored on a jumper but Grant-Clark answered with a bucket for an 85-80 lead with 2:39 to play. IWU hit a 3-pointer but Grant-Clark sank two free throws for an 87-83 edge at the 1:29 mark.

However, those would be the final points for the Saints. Butler had a three-point play to cut the Maryville lead to just one with 41 seconds to play. The Saints ran the clock down but missed from the lane still up 87-86. IWU pushed the ball ahead and scored the game-winning basket.

Sims hit 10-of-17 from the field en route to his 25 points. Mischkulnig narrowly missed a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. Grant-Clark added 17 points and eight boards, while King chipped in eight points and hauled down a career-high nine caroms. Fowler lead Iowa Wesleyan (2-2) with 28 points and eight assists.
