Grant Sims assist to boost the Maryville men's basketball team to a 79-77 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange Saturday afternoon at Moloney Arena. The game-winning basket capped a rally by the Saints who trailed by nine points with just over eight minutes left in the game.

Max Mischkulnig sank two free throws, and Jallow had a steal and layup to pull the Saints to 69-66 with 6:29 left in the game. HLG hit two free throws but the Saints finally tied the game after a
Karson King layup and a 3-pointer by Sims in the left corner. Sims tacked on a layup and Jallow had another steal for an easy layup to build a 75-71 lead with 3:44 to play. However, the Trojans scored six straight points to retake a 77-75 edge on a Tim Pace layup with 55 seconds in the game. Sims drew a foul and knocked down two free throws to tie the game 77-all with 43 ticks to go. The Saints defense made a stand to set up the game-winning basket. Sims drove down the lane in the waning seconds and dropped the ball off to Jallow who had an easy layup for the winner.

Grant-Clark led the Saints with 22 points, while Mischkulnig added 20 points, six rebounds and blocked four shots. Jallow finished with six points and had four steals. Tim Pace led Hannibal-LaGrange (2-4) with 24 points but was held to just seven in the second half. The Trojans shot 52.5 percent from the field. The Saints took advantage at the free-throw line as they converted 26-of-30 at the stripe.

The Saints improve to 2-4 on the season. Maryville is next in action Thursday, Dec. 3, with the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener at Missouri S&T.
