Box Score 2 The Maryville softball team lost both games in day two of action at the Charger Chillout in Decatur, Ala., Saturday afternoon. The Saints fell to host squad Alabama-Huntsville 10-2 then were edged by Kentucky Wesleyan 2-0.
The home Chargers, who are ranked 12th in the nation, scored four runs in the top of the first to take the early lead. In the third inning, the Saints pushed across two scores. Syd Tockman started the outburst with a walk, and Krystal Rock singled and later stole second. Kelsey Martin drilled an RBI single to left as the Saints got on the scoreboard. Nicole Taylor put a ball in play that allowed Rock to score as the Saints pulled to within 7-2. However, Maryville was unable to cut into the gap as the Chargers stayed undefeated.
In the second game of the day, Wendy Macias pitched well and only allowed two runs coming on a bloop hit over second base. However, the Saints offense was unable to generate any support of their starting pitcher as Maryville is still looking to record its first win at the tournament. The Saints close out action in Alabama with games Sunday against Miles College and North Alabama.
