Box Score 2 The Maryville softball team tied a school record by mashing four home runs in game two to earn a split of a doubleheader Sunday at Lewis. The Flyers recorded a walk-off 6-5 in in the first game before the Saints exploded for an 11-0 victory in the finale. Maryville tied the previous record of four homers in a game set March 19, 2005, against Loras College.

The Flyers jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Saints pulled one run back in the top of the fifth.
Wendy Macias drew a walk, and
Courtney Ferguson came on as a pinch runner. She scored on
Darby Ferguson's double. In the top of the seventh, the Saints forged a tie with four runs on three hits. With the bases loaded,
Krystal Rock singled to left to bring home a run. With the bases still loaded, an error by Lewis cleared the bags as Rock,
Nicole Taylor and Darby Ferguson all scored to force a 5-5 tie. However, Sarah DeMasi lashed a double in the bottom of the seventh to give the Flyers a 6-5 win.

In the finale, the Saints jumped on the Flyers with eight runs in the top of the first. After a Rock single,
Danielle Williams cranked a two-run homer for all the runs the Saints would need. Macias followed to make it back-to-back homers.
Kelsey Martin added a two-run double, and Taylor added an RBI double for a 6-0 lead. Rock reached out and laced a two-run double to cap the eight-run outburst. In the top of the third, Taylor doubled and Williams launched her second homer of the game for a 10-0 cushion.
Meredith Brown closed the scoring with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Macias gave up five hits over five innings to pick up the shutout win.
The Saints improve to 7-14 on the season and are 4-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Flyers are 13-10 overall, 4-4 in the GLVC.
