Box Score 2 The Maryville softball team had opportunities at No. 10 Indianapolis but the Greyhounds dealt the Saints 5-0 and 3-2 losses Friday afternoon in Indiana. The Saints had just two hits in the first game and let an early two-run lead slip away in the finale.

Neither team generated much offense early in game one, and the Saints did not record their first hit until Dani Williams singled in the fourth. The game was still scoreless until UIndy hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth.
Sheridon Sprague singled in the fifth but that would be the final hit for the Saints in the game. The Greyhounds added three insurance runs in the sixth inning.
Krystal Rock was hit by a pitch and reached third but she was thrown out at the plate to end the game.

The Saints grabbed the lead with a run in the top of the third.
Courtney Ferguson singled and took second when
Wendy Macias reached on sac bunt fielder's choice. The pair pulled off a double steal to put two in scoring position. Ferguson scored on
Ashley Marks' sac bunt for a 1-0 lead. Sprague doubled the Saints' lead with a solo homer in the fourth inning for a 2-0 advantage. Williams, who started in the circle for the Saints, limited Indianapolis to just two hits in the first four innings. However, the Greyhounds scored a run in the fifth on an RBI single and two-run homer to take the lead. In the top of the sixth, Sprague walked and reached third but was unable to score the tying run as the Greyhounds held off the Saints' upset bid.

The Saints fall to 12-27 overall, 8-16 in the GLVC. The Greyhounds improve to 34-8, 19-3 in the conference. Maryville plays at Saint Joseph's for a doubleheader Saturday.
