Alex Hillyer both narrowly missed double-doubles and were unable to prevent the Maryville women from a 72-58 defeat to visiting Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday afternoon at Moloney Arena. The duo both recorded 13 points and notched nine and eight rebounds, respectively.

The Rangers led 13-7 after the first quarter and held the edge before Maryville made a move. UWP was still up 22-14 four minutes into the second before the Saints went on a 12-1 run.
Ellen Foster sparked the run with a three-point play, after the Rangers made one free throw, Wolf knocked down a 3-pointer.
Maya Solomon chipped in one at the line, and
Stephanie Sherwood covered a triple from the wing to give the Saints a 24-23 lead at the 2:37 mark. Hillyer sank two free throws for a 26-23 edge but the Rangers answered with seven in a row and settled for a 30-28 lead over Maryville at halftime.

Ali Ringering nailed a jumper to start the third quarter, and her jumper at the 7:22 mark handed the Saints a 32-20 advantage. The Rangers answered with 10 straight points and grabbed a 40-34 lead. Maryville received a layup by Wolf and a 3-pointer by
Carly Frala to trim the deficit to 40-39 with two minutes to play. UWP pushed ahead by scoring eight of the last nine points of the quarter. The Saints closed the gap to five on three occasions, the last with 6:28 remaining on two free throws by
Madeline Hartke, but the Rangers sealed the win with a 7-0 burst.

In addition to Wolf and Hillyer, Ringering recorded 12 points and three assists for the Saints (8-6 overall, 2-5 Great Lakes Valley Conference). Sherwood finished with nine points and three steals. Stephanie Furr paced the Rangers (10-5, 4-3) with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Wisconsin-Parkside snared 18 offensive rebounds and enjoyed a 50-31 edge on the glass.
