Box Score Truman State boxscore in PDFKirksville, Mo. – Truman State used a 17-4 run midway through the first half and a heavy dose of three point shooting to defeat Maryville 81-67 in men's basketball action at Pershing Arena in Kirksville, Mo., Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs opened with Cory Meyers putting in four points, Andrew Vander Zwaag drilling a three, and Dwight Sistrunk, Jr. adding a jumper to complete a 9-2 run over the first two minutes and 37 seconds for Truman State. The Saints battled right back with a 10-2 run of their own as
Forrester Sims started the rally with a lay-in, and Max Mischkulnig buried a jumper to give Maryville its only lead of the game at 12-11 with 14:02 left in the half. Conner Erickson powered the Bulldogs on a 17-4 run with 10 points to give Truman a 28-16 advantage with a little less than 10 minutes remaining in the half. Truman was not shy in shooting the ball from beyond the arc in the first half as the Bulldogs were six-of-12 from long distance with Vander Zwaag hitting on three of his four attempts from deep. This helped propel Truman to a 45-29 halftime advantage.

Truman was not done yet from behind the arc as it came out of the halftime locker room with Cory Meyers nailing a pair of triples and Vander Zwaag hitting another to give the home team a 54-29 lead just one minute into the second half. After the teams would trade baskets for a short period of time, Sims started a push by the Saints as he converted a lay-up and then drained a three from the left corner to start a 15-3 run over the next six minutes and 24 seconds to cut the Truman lead to 61-50. But, the Bulldogs would answer right back Erickson hit a pair of free throws and Vander Zwaag drained his fifth triple of the night as Truman extended the lead to 66-50 and would not look back from that point.

Sims led the Maryville (7-12, 1-8 GLVC) attack with 19 points and added four helpers while Mischkulnig chipped in with 14 points.
Karson King helped the Saints to a 34-27 rebounding advantage by grabbing six caroms. Truman State (14-5, 6-3) got 21 points from Vander Zwaag, including 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Erickson added 18 points and Cory Meyer put in 15 markers for the Bulldogs, who ended the night shooting 12-of-28 from three-point land.
