Forrester Sims narrowly missed his first career double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds but Rockhurst kept the Maryville men's team at bay in a 72-59 win over the Saints at Moloney Arena.

The visitors grabbed the early lead and kept it for most of the first half. The Hawks were up 22-13 before the Saints charged back. Sims drained a triple and followed with a layup.
Max Mischkulnig scored inside but Rockhurst responded with a bucket.
Damyan Stoyanov pulled the Saints to within one on a 3-pointer before his layup gave Maryville its first lead 25-24 at the 3:43 mark. Rockhurst scored four straight to retake the lead and settled for a 31-28 edge at halftime.

The Hawks hit a 3-pointer early in the second half and were up by six before the Saints scored seven straight to take the lead. Sims hit a jumper and knocked down a 3-pointer. Stoyanov's layup handed the Saints a 37-36 lead three minutes into the second half. Rockhurst retook the lead and were up 40-38 before going on a 7-0 run. The Hawks held a 58-48 advantage before a Sims bucket and triple by Stoyanov pulled the Saints to 58-53 with just under six minutes to play. However, Rockhurst answered with five straight and slowly edged away late.

Sims knocked down 9-of-12 shots from the field en route to his 23 point outing. He also snared a career-high nine rebounds to top the Saints (7-13, 1-9 Great Lakes Valley Conference). Stoyanov added 14 points to go along with six boards.
Saikou Jallow directed the Maryville offense with eight assists. Dominique Washington led Rockhurst (10-8, 5-5 GLVC) with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Malachi Nix handed out 10 assists.

The Saints are back in action Saturday when they host William Jewell in a 3 p.m. tip.
