Quincy, Ill. - In the final game of the Subway Tip-Off Classic in Quincy, Ill., the Maryville women's basketball team saw Minnesota State Moorhead use a big third quarter run to pull away in the second half and down the Saints 61-42.

The first quarter was close and
Ellen Foster scored with two seconds left to give the Saints a 9-8 lead. The Dragons opened the second quarter with five points before
Amanda Ponce hit a jumper to pull the Saints to 13-11. MSU Moorhead extended its advantage to 22-13 but
Ali Ringering nailed a 3-pointer. The Saints trailed 24-18 at intermission.

However, the Dragons went on an extended run in the third quarter and quickly built a double-digit lead. The Saints hurt themselves by missing 12 shots from the field. Ringering sank a triple in the fourth quarter but the Dragons had already pushed their advantage to over 20 points. Foster had a three-point play in the final moments but the Saints never got closer than 19 points.

Ponce paced the Saints with 12 points, while Foster added nine points. Alex Wolf led Maryville with nine rebounds, four on the offensive end. Cassidy Thorson led the Dragons with 17 points. Ringering was named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 12.5 points over the two games while shooting 50 percent from the field.

The Saints are now 1-2 on the season, while the Dragons are 2-1. Maryville stay on the road for one more game Wednesday, Nov. 23. The next home game for the Saints is Friday, Nov. 25, as the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez visits Moloney Arena for a 4 p.m. game.
