Missouri S&T boxscore in PDF
Rolla, Mo. - In the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Thursday night in Rolla, Mo., the Maryville women's basketball team had its two-game winning streak end with a 54-47 defeat at Missouri S&T.
Alex Wolf paced the Saints with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.

The Saints were down 8-5 before the Saints made six straight free throws.
Ellen Foster hit the first two, and
Stephanie Sherwood sank two more to put the Saints up 9-8. Maryville led 11-8 after the first quarter. Early in the second, the Lady Miners tallied six straight before Wolf scored to pull the Saints to 14-13. Missouri S&T kept a narrow edge into the second half and settled for a 26-22 lead at halftime.

S&T used an early 9-0 run in the third quarter and pushed the advantage out to as much as 14 points.
Carly Frala scored inside, and Wolf sank two at the free-throw line to pull the Saints to 43-36. The Lady Miners added a bucket before Wolf scored on consecutive trips as Maryville inched to within 45-40 with 2:56 to play.
Amanda Ponce tallied on a drive as the Saints again closed to five points. However, Elsie Greenwood hit a 3-pointer at the shot clock buzzer with 39.5 seconds to play to provide Missouri S&T a cushion. The Saints closed to 50-44 after an
Ali Ringering bucket with 31 ticks, and Sherwood's corner triple pulled Maryville to 52-47 in the waning seconds.

Wolf hit all three of her free throw attempts en route to her game-high 15 points and also grabbed six rebounds. Brooklyn Chaffin added eight points for the Saints. Elise Greenwood led Missouri S&T with 11 points, while Jamy Douvier grabbed 11 rebounds.

The Saints are now 3-3 overall, 0-1 in the GLVC. The Lady Miners stand at 5-2, 1-0 in the league. Maryville stays on the road for GLVC action and plays at No. 14 Drury Saturday afternoon.
