Maryville-Saint Louis boxscore in PDF
In the exhibition opener for the Maryville women's basketball team, the Saints led for a large portion of the first half, but Division I host Saint Louis University used a big third quarter en route to a 69-41 win. The Friday afternoon contest was held at SLU's Chaifetz Arena.

The Saints scored the first two points of the game on an
Ali Ringering jumper.
Brooklyn Chaffin knocked down a 3-pointer to push Maryville back up 5-2. The Billikens took their first lead of the game but
Stephanie Sherwood and Chaffin scored for a 9-6 Saints lead midway through the first. Later,
Amanda Ponce converted a jumper, and
Madeline Hartke splashed a triple for a 14-8 lead at the 4:05 mark. The Saints took a 16-12 lead on a layup by
Alex Wolf and settled for a 16-14 edge after one.

Ringering hit a jumper for a four-point lead until the Billikens tied the game at 18-all at the 6:48 mark. SLU edged ahead before Chaffin drilled another 3-pointer for a 21-20 lead. Hartke hit a jumper later in the second quarter as the game moved to halftime with the Saints trailing just 24-23.

The Billikens charged out of intermission by scoring the first nine points before
Erin Lenahan scored inside. Wolf tacked on a hoop to pull Maryville to 33-27. However, SLU scored 17 straight points to take command with the game-changing run. Hartke scored to end the Maryville drought, and Chaffin knocked down another triple but the Saints never trimmed the deficit under 20 the rest of the way.

Chaffin led the Saints with 11 points, while Hartke added 10. Wolf tied for rebounding game-high honors with 10 caroms. Sadie Stipanovich paced the Billikens with 14 points and nine rebounds.

The Saints continue exhibition play with another Division I opponent in Northern Iowa, Monday, Nov. 7, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
