Box Score Jackson, Tenn. - After a back and forth contest, Union used a five-run inning and held off a late Maryville rally as the Saints dropped an 8-6 game in the series finale Saturday in Jackson, Tenn. The Saints got the potential game-tying run to first base but could not complete the rally.

The Saints grabbed an early lead with two runs in the top of the second.
Evan Reister was hit by a pitch and promptly stole second.
Garrett Taylor lashed an RBI single to left to get the Saints on the scoreboard. He stole second and took third on an error. Taylor ran home just before
Tyler Catlett was caught in a rundown for a 2-0 lead. The game was scoreless until the sixth when the Saints tacked on a solo run.

Mitch Carriger walked and moved into scoring position after a
Yoonjae Nam single. The duo moved up after a wild pitch, and Carriger scored on a passed ball for a 3-0 lead. However, Union tallied three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The hosts continued their offensive output with five runs in the seventh to jump to an 8-3 lead. The Saints rallied in the ninth inning and eventually got the potential game-tying run to first base. Reister reached on an error and moved to second.
Zack Ruckman had an RBI knock and took second on a Taylor walk.
Tyler Omlid then drilled a two-run single to cut the deficit to 8-6. However, the Saints comeback stalled as Union held on for the win.

The Saints slip to 5-2 on the season, while Union improves to 6-1. Maryville returns to Tennessee for its next action as it travels to Trevecca Nazarene.
