St. Louis - The Maryville men's basketball team recorded a 72.5 field goal percentage, its second-highest shooting mark in school history, including a scintillating 80 percent (20-of-25) in the second half, en route to a 98-67 victory over visiting Missouri S&T.

The contest was close in the early part of the first half and the Saints were up 28-23 with just over five minutes before intermission before going on a 14-0 run to surge ahead.
Marvin Grant-Clark and
Max Mischkulnig scored back-to-back layups to start the run. Grant-Clark then scored five straight points, and
Grant Sims had a layup and a 3-pointer for a 32-23 lead at the 2:21 mark. Maryville hit six of its seven shots during the burst. The Saints grabbed a 48-28 lead when Sims nailed a long triple at the halftime buzzer.

The second half started quickly as
Saikou Jallow scored on the first possession. The Saints scored six straight points and stretched their advantage to 71-42. Maryville missed a shot at the 14:32 mark but did not miss another field goal attempt until 3:45 remained in the game. During that nearly 11-minute run, the Saints hit 10 straight shots and led by as much as 87-53 with five minutes to play in the contest.

Grant-Clark led five Saints in double figures with 18 points, while
Forrester Sims finished with 16 points. Mischkulnig notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jallow dished out 13 assists, the most since the Saints joined NCAA Division II, and the fourth most in a single game in program history. The Saints made 37-of-51 shots from the field and their .725 field goal accuracy narrowly missed out on the school record of .727 set against Lincoln Nov. 26, 2012. Maryville made a stunning 20-of-25 shots in the second half. The Saints hit 11-of-19 from 3-point range (.579) and 13-of-15 at the line (.867).

Rokas Paulauskas topped Missouri S&T (8-18 overall, 4-13 GLVC) with 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Saints improve to 10-17 overall, 4-13 in the GLVC and stay in contention for a spot in the GLVC Tournament. Maryville closes the regular season Thursday, Feb. 25, by hosting city-rival UMSL on #1000Saints Night.
