St. Charles, Mo. - The Maryville baseball team fell behind early to Grand Valley State and was unable to mount a comeback as the Lakers won their third straight game in a 14-3 decision on day two of the Maryville Baseball Classic Saturday in St. Charles, Mo.

The Lakers took advantage of two first-inning errors and tallied five runs to grab the early lead. GVSU tacked on runs in the fourth and fifth before the Saints made a small rally.
Tyler Omlid singled and
Dalton Schumer reached on a fielder's choice to put two runners on in the bottom of the fifth.
Yoonjae Nam smashed a triple deep into the right field corner that plated two runs.
Garrett Taylor reached after a GVSU error and took second on a wild pitch. Omlid doubled Taylor in for the third Maryville run. However, the Lakers (4-2) closed out the victory with three runs in the top of the eighth.

The Saints close out the classic with another game against Grand Valley State at 2:30 p.m.
