Forrester Sims and
Marvin Grant-Clark tallied 23 and 21 points, respectively, for Maryville but could not prevent McKendree from a 92-84 victory Saturday afternoon in Moloney Arena. With the win, Bearcats head coach Harry Statham set the all-time collegiate wins record with 1,099 victories.

 McKendree settled for a 30-28 lead at halftime but both teams erupted in an offensive explosion in the second half. The Bearcats sank a 3-pointer to take a five-point lead but the Saints came back and tied the game.
Max Mischkulnig made two free throws, and Sims drilled a 3-pointer to tie the game at 33-33. The game stayed close and was still deadlocked at 44-44 five minutes into the half.

Grant-Clark scored on a short jumper to put the Saints up by two. Sims had a three-point play to push the edge up to 49-44. Maryville was still leading 54-49 after a
Jeff Leeson triple but the Bearcats tied the game at 58-58 all at the 9:32 mark. McKendree went on a 15-4 run to grab a double-digit lead. The Saints kept it close and, in the waning minutes, hit a flurry of late 3-pointers. Down eight in the final minute, Grant-Clark nailed a triple. McKendree made two free throws until Sims drilled another 3-pointer to pull the Saints to 88-84 with 17 seconds left. However, the Bearcats hit four straight free throws and held on for the win.

Sims made 7-of-10 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers, to finish with 23 points. Four Saints finished in double-figures. Nate Michael poured in 40 points to lead McKendree (11-10, 4-9) to the victory.

The Saints are now 8-15 overall, 2-11 in the GLVC.
