Box Score 2 Springfield, Ill. - The Maryville softball team used a pair of five-run outbursts in both games of a doubleheader to sweep Illinois Springfield for its eighth straight victory. The Saints took game one 6-2 and recorded a 7-4 win in game two.

In game one, the Saints were down to their last out but stormed back with five runs with two outs to post a stunning 6-2 victory. Down 2-0 in the fifth inning,
Courtney Ferguson drove in the first run for the Saints with an RBI single. Maryville was still down 2-1 until there were two outs in the top of the seventh.Â
Wendy Macias doubled to score
Ashley Marks with the tying run, and
Bri Livingston with the go-ahead run.
Krystal Rock laced an RBI single to push the Saints up 4-2.
Alex Flasch extended the Saints advantage to 6-2 with a two-run double to seal the victory.

The Saints jumped out to the early lead in the second game with the five-run outburst in the top of the first. With the bases loaded, Flasch ripped a bases-clearing double for a 3-0 advantage.
Kelsey Martin hit an RBI single, and Rock later scored on an error for a 5-0 lead. UIS got one run back in the bottom of the third before Ferguson's RBI grounder restored a 6-1 edge. The Saints tacked on another tally in the top of the fifth when Macias doubled and scored on Hope Miller's run scoring single. UIS made a late push with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Saints continue the best start in school history and are 17-3 overall, 5-1 in the GLVC. The Prairie Starts fall to 10-14, 2-4.
