Saints fall on the road to UW-Parkside 61-55

Somers, Wis. – The Maryville women's basketball team fell behind in the second period and could not battle back as the Saints fell to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside 61-55 Thursday night at DeSimone Gymnasium in Somers, Wis.

After a close first period which saw Maryville take a 12-11 lead, Alex Wolf led the Saints on a 9-4 run in which she had seven of those nine points to give Maryville a 23-25 at the 5:00 minute mark. The Rangers then turned the tables on the Saints and finished out the period with a 15-0 run to take a 30-23 lead into the halftime locker room.

The Saints battled back in the third period and cut the UW-Parkside lead to 39-37 when Wolf hit a pair of free throws with 2:23 remaining in the period. The Rangers then extended the lead to 43-38 on a pair of Brittney Fair jumpers to end the period.

Amanda Ponce opened the final period with a triple from the left wing to cut the Rangers lead to 43-41 with nine minutes remaining in the contest, but that is as close as Maryville would get.
