Stephanie Sherwood and
Mary Barton both scored 17 points apiece but the Maryville women's basketball team could not slow down Indianapolis as the visitors posted a 74-61 win over the Saints.

UIndy took an early 6-1 before Barton drilled a 3-pointer. The Greyhounds were still up 13-8 before consecutive jumpers by
Ali Ringering drew the Saints to 13-12. UIndy took an 18-12 lead after one. Barton scored on the first possession of the second quarter as the Saints cut the gap to four. Back-to-back triples by UIndy pushed the edge back up to 10. Still down 29-19, Sherwood knocked down a jumper, and a hoop by Ringering drew the Saints to 29-23. Maryville trailed 42-34 but UIndy scored for a 44-34 lead at halftime.

The Saints were unable to score early in the third as UIndy tallied six straight to open up their largest lead of the day. Ringering splashed in a late 3-pointer to keep the Saints trailing by just 10. However, Maryville was unable to trim the gap to single digits as the Greyhounds kept the Saints at bay.

Indianapolis shot 54.9 percent on the day and moves to 9-5, 3-1 in the league. Martha Burse topped the Greyhounds with 19 points. Barton and Sherwood both sank three 3-pointers en route to their 17 points. Sherwood and
Alex Wolf tied for the team lead with five rebounds.

The Saints are now 4-7 overall, 0-4 in the GLVC. Maryville returns to action Thursday as it travels to Wisconsin-Parkside.
