Rolla, Mo. – The Maryville University men's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the second half to earn a 2-1 victory over Missouri S&T at the S&T Soccer Field in Rolla, Mo., Friday evening.
 
What Happened – The Miners opened the scoring in the 14th minute to grab a 1-0 lead over the Saints and held that advantage after the first 45 minutes. Maryville got things going in the second stanza as JD Sohn took a cross from Joergen Pettersen and buried it in to the back of the net to even the match at 1-1 in the 57th minute. Vittorio Sasso gave the Saints the lead in the 72nd minute as he scored his first goal of the year off a pass from Nathan Schilly.
 
Inside the Numbers – The goal for Sohn was his fourth of the season, which ties him for second on the team. Gavino Carranza lead the Saints with five shots in the match.
 
How They Stand – Maryville improves to 9-2-2 overall and 7-2-2 in league play while the Miners fall to 6-5-1 overall and 5-5-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
 
Up Next – Maryville continues their three-game road trip Friday, Oct. 20, as the Saints take on cross-town rival the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
