What Happened
The Maryville volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to force a fifth set and stormed to the victory over Oakland City Wednesday night in Moloney Arena. The Saints won 16-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 15-9.
Allison Lakin recorded a double-double with 20 kills and 16 digs, and
Ashley Selman hit .393 and finished with 15 kills.

How is Happened
The Saints dropped the first set before mounting a huge rally in the second. Maryville was down 10-2 but used a 5-1 to get back into the set. The Saints eventually took a 16-14 lead and closed out the 25-23 win on a Selman termination. Oakland City won set three before the Saints had their best hitting percentage in the fourth set. The Saints roared out of the gate in set four with six straight points featuring four kills and two blocks. Maryville used a 5-0 run to eventually lead 19-6 and force a fifth set.

In the deciding set, the Saints had another huge burst to surge ahead.
Cassidy Arndt had a kill, and
Taylor Schellert followed. After a Lakin kill, Schellert and
Taylor Koss teamed on a block. OCU committing a hitting error, and Lakin pounded down another point. Arndt's service ace staked the Saints to a 7-0 lead. After Oakland City scored its first point, the Saints tacked on four straight points. Lakin finished another point, and
Makayla Campbell served an ace. Selman and Lakin had a block, and Selman's kill handed the Saints an 11-1 lead. OCU made a late push, but the Saints won the match on a block by
Natalia Pia and Schellert.
