Summary
The Maryville volleyball was looking to make it two straight victories but Truman State held off charges in each set to prevail Friday evening. The Bulldogs won by set scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-20. Addison Plant had her second straight double-double with 10 assists and 10 digs.
 
What Happened
After Truman State scored the first point, the Saints answered with a 4-0 run. Taylor Koss had two kills, and Allison Lakin added another. A service ace by Cassidy Arndt built the 4-1 edge. The Saints went ahead 7-3 on another kill by Lakin before TSU tied the score at 7-all. The set was close and Maryville took a 17-15 lead after a kill by Lakin and a Plant ace. TSU went back in front and the Saints twice pulled to within two points. However, Truman held on for a 25-22 win.
 
In set two, Maryville again took an early lead with a TSU error and a block by Natalia Pia and Ashley Selman leading to a 5-3 advantage. Truman scored five of the next seven points and built a 13-8 cushion. The Saints scored three straight with a block from Selman and Pia, a TSU error and a kill by Pia, to get to 17-14. Truman used a big run late to close out the set.
 
Truman took the early lead in set three until the Saints scored four of five points and drew to 6-4. Maryville stayed close and a Lakin kill and a Plant ace trimmed TSU's lead to 15-12. The Saints used a 3-0 run but was unable to get any closer than five points the rest of the way.
