Ashley Selman recorded the 1,000th kill of her Maryville volleyball career but Illinois Springfield handled the Saints in three sets 25-22, 25-14, 25-16. On an overpass early in the second set, Selman smashed down a ball to reach the 1,000-kill milestone, becoming the third Maryville player to achieve the mark.

What Happened
The Saints had their best hitting output in the opening set. Maryville jumped to a 6-3 lead.
Taylor Schellert had a kill, and after a UIS error,
Allison Lakin's kill was good for a 6-3 lead. After another Lakin kill,
Taylor Stirton served consecutive aces for an 11-7 edge. A Schellert kill built Maryville's biggest advantage at 17-12 but UIS slowly rallied. The Prairie Stars used a late 5-0 run to take control.

In set two, Selman recorded her career 1,000th kill to provide Maryville a 4-3 edge. The Saints were down just 7-6 before UIS tallied eight straight to surge ahead. Another Selman kill ended the Prairie Stars burst but UIS took a 2-0 lead.

The Saints scored the first two points in the third set and eventually were up 5-2. After UIS went ahead 6-5, Selman and
Natalia Pia had a block, and Selman's kill was good for a 7-6 advantage. UIS retook the lead and built it up to 18-12. Pia had a solo rejection, and she teamed with Schellert for another block to pull the Saints to 19-15 but would not get closer.
