How it Happened
The Hawks posted a .407 hitting percentage to key the win in the first set. Allison Lakin topped the Saints with four kills. Rockhurst used a 6-0 run to break away from a 3-3 tie. The Saints scored three straight points capped by Taylor Koss' kill to make it 13-8. The Hawks answered with a 5-0 to take control.
Ashley Selman's kill handed the Saints a 4-3 lead in set two. A Lakin kill tied the proceedings at 5-5 until the Hawks scored four straight. Maryville made a small run around two Rockhurst errors and a kill by Lakin to pull back to 16-13. However, the Hawks scored seven of the last eight points to take the set.
In the third set, Lakin had a kill as the Saints cut the Rockhurst lead to 5-3. The Hawks tallied three straight points to build a cushion. Later, the home side used a 7-1 to build a double-digit edge.
