Summary
The Maryville men's basketball team used a balanced attack with four players in double figures to highlight a 90-76 win over Purdue Northwest. The victory is the fifth straight for the Saints. Day two of the Maryville Classic resumes Tuesday with the Saints facing Oklahoma Christian at 3 p.m.
 
What Happened
The game was tied at 42-42 early in the second half before the Saints went on an 11-4 run. Forrester Sims knocked down a 3-pointer, and Robin Thompson threw down a dunk for a 47-42 edge. After PNW scored, Nolan Berry scored back-to-back layups. The Pride sank a jumper before Eugene Jones answered with a three-point play. Jones scored on an offensive rebound as the Maryville margin grew to 56-46 with 12:40 remaining. The Pride stayed close and pulled to within one possession.
 
Jimmy Barton nailed a 3-pointer and followed with a layup for a 74-65 edge. Purdue Northwest hit a triple but Berry answered with a dunk and two layups for an 80-68 lead. The Saints kept the margin at double digits the rest of the way to keep their winning streak intact. Berry led the Saints with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Barton added 16 points and nine assists. Thompson and Casey Teson both notched 15 points apiece. Maryville's 8-2 record after 10 games ties the best start in program history with the 2012-13 team.
