Summary
The Maryville men's basketball team set a school record for points in a game as the Saints hammered Robert Morris Springfield 134-70 Saturday afternoon. The Saints surpassed the previous mark of 128 and also tied the record for field goals made with 54. Forrester Sims scored the 1,000th point of his career during the tilt.
 
What Happened
The Saints took control early by scoring the first 17 points of the game. The Eagles were held scoreless for nearly five minutes and did not tally a field goal for almost seven minutes. Nolan Berry opened the game with a three-point play, and Casey Teson knocked down a 3-pointer. Robin Thompson powered in a layup, and Sims scored inside for a 10-0 edge. Teson hit another triple, and Berry scored on a turnaround in the lane. Thompson's layup was good for a 17-0 lead. The Eagles finally got on the scoreboard with two free throws at the 15:32 mark.
 
Maryville's lead quickly reached 20 points and grew to 30 late in the first half. The Saints took a 79-34 lead at halftime. Maryville shot 63 percent in the first half and nailed 11 3-pointers. The Saints steadily pulled away in the second half and took its biggest lead of 74 points late in the contest.
