St. Louis - At the Dr. Mark Lombardi Duals Sunday, the Maryville wrestling team posted a sweep of all three matches. The Saints defeated Truman State 45-0, Ouachita Baptist 33-6 before closing with a thrilling 21-12 victory over No. 3 Notre Dame College.

In their first match, the Saints rolled past Truman State 45-0. Maryville posted four falls to go along with one tech fall and one major in the clash.
Jaret Singh and
Dakota Bauer opened with wins before
Nate Rodriguez posted a 15-0 tech fall.
James Krischke and
Greg Hegarty notched back-to-back pins as the Saints grabbed control of the team score at 23-0.
Derrick Swaney notched a win, followed by
Tyler Harrington's 10-0 major.
Zeb Wahle picked up another fall, and after an
Ethan Sherertz victory,
Donnell Walker closed out the contest with another fall.

Versus Ouachita Baptist, the Saints again dominated by taking eight of the 10 matches. Singh won at 125 to begin the match. Bauer picked up a 20-5 tech fall in his 133 battle, before Rodriguez had a fall at 141 for a 14-0 Maryville lead. Krischke notched an upset as he took down the No. 3-ranked wrestler at 149 in Blake Clevenger in a 2-1 win. Hegarty pinned his 157 opponent in just 51 seconds. Ouachita Baptist took the next two weight classes before Wahle recorded an 18-4 major to keep rolling at 184. Sherertz notched a 4-1 win at 197, and Walker shut out his heavyweight foe in a 5-0 decision.

The third-ranked Falcons took the first two wins until Rodriguez got the Saints on the board with a 4-2 win over No. 7 Cobey Fehr. Krischke closed his day with a strong 7-5 win, and Hegarty pulled out a thrilling 6-4 sudden victory decision. Notre Dame picked up a tech fall and a decision to edge ahead 12-9. In an important bout, Wahle had his second fall of the day when he pinned his foe in 51 seconds to push the Saints ahead 15-12. Sherertz kept the momentum going with a key 8-1 victory. Walker closed the door on the Falcons as he notched a 6-5 win in the finale over No. 12 Kameron Teacher to clinch the 21-12 win.

The Saints begin the post season as they travel to Moorhead, Minn., for the NCAA Division II Super Region III Feb. 24-25.
