St. Louis - In a game that featured 11 lead changes and nine ties, the Maryville men's basketball team could not force one last deadlock as Drury held on for a 68-65 win over the Saints. For #1000Saints Night, Maryville attracted a season-high 1,1000 fans and raised a record-setting $16,000 for Kids Rock Cancer.

Early in the second half, Drury was ahead 38-35 before
Anthony Johnson sank a jumper. On the next possession, he stole the ball and fed
Jeff Leeson for a jumper that pushed the Saints ahead 39-38 with 17:34 to play. Drury answered with five straight points and went back up 46-41.
Forrester Sims drilled a 3-pointer to start an 8-0 burst by the Saints. He scored on a layup, and Johnson hit a 3-pointer that handed Maryville a 49-46 lead. The Panthers retook the lead at 52-51 but
Karson King sank a jumper and a 3-pointer that handed the Saints a 56-52 edge.

Ben Volkman had a layup in transition as the Saints took their largest lead of the night at 60-54 with 6:28 remaining. Drury scored eight straight to lead 62-60 but Johnson answered with a corner triple for a one-point edge.
Jimmy Barton knocked down a jumper for a 65-62 lead with just over two minutes to play. However, the Saints did not score the rest of the way as Drury (16-8 overall, 9-7 GLVC) tallied the final six points, including two free throws with 1.3 seconds left to ice the game.

Johnson led the Saints with 17 points to go along with five assists. King narrowly missed a double-double and finished with 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Forrester Sims added 14 points, while Leeson chipped in 10.

The Saints slip to 8-20 overall, 2-14 in the GLVC. Maryville plays its final home game of the season Saturday, Feb. 18, as Missouri S&T comes to Moloney Arena for a 3 p.m. contest.
