What Happened
The Maryville volleyball team battled on the road at Missouri S&T Saturday afternoon but the Miners used late runs in sets two and three to handle the Saints. Set scores were 25-12, 25-23, 25-22. The Saints outblocked the Miners 5.0 to 2.0.

Match Summary
In the first set, the Miners used hot hitting and kept the Saints attack in check to take the early lead. S&T went on a 6-0 to seize control. Maryville roared out to an early lead in the second set. The Miners scored the first point but consecutive kills by Cassidy Arndt and another by Taylor Koss handed the Saints a 3-1 lead. Up 4-3, Maryville scored two straight after an S&T service error and a block by Taylor Schellert and Allison Lakin. The Miners tied the set at 6-6 and the score stayed close as neither team led by more than two points. Deadlocked at 17-17, S&T edged ahead with three straight points. A kill by Selman halted the run by the Miners but Maryville was unable to tie the set.

The final set saw the Miners edge out to a lead and were up 11-8. The Saints got a combo block from Selman and Arndt to start a 4-0 burst. After a Lakin kill, Selman smashed down a kill to forge an 11-11 tie. Another kill by Selman pushed the Saints ahead 12-11. The set was tied at 14-all. S&T was up 18-15 until the Saints went on a 5-1 run to jump ahead 20-19. The set was tied at 21-21 but the Miners tallied four of the last five points to end the match.
