Summary
Playing in his final home game,
Nolan Berry recorded a double-double with 31 points and 13 rebounds as the Maryville men's basketball team won the city battle against the University of Missouri-St. Louis 79-70 on Senior Day. Berry hit 10-of-14 shots en route to his 16th double-double of the campaign. The game was the regular-season finale for both teams.

What Happened
The first half was close as the Saints had the biggest lead of six points at 32-26. UMSL scored seven straight but Berry sank two free throws for a 33-32 Maryville lead at halftime. Early in the second half, the Tritons hit two straight 3-points to take a 39-36 lead. The Saints countered with a 10-0 run. Berry had a three-point play, and
Jimmy Barton scored on a layup. Berry drilled a 3-pointer from the top of the key, and
Forrester Sims had a layup for a 46-39 lead with 14:32 left.

UMSL tallied five points before
Robin Thompson had a huge offensive rebound and dunk. The Tritons scored eight of the next 10 points and were up 52-50 with nine minutes to play. The Saints embarked on another 10-0 burst to grab a lead they would not surrender. Thompson tied the game, and Barton splashed in a triple and a long jumper. Thompson made one free throw, and a score by Barton was good for a 60-52 edge with 6:21 to play. The Tritons stayed within range and trimmed the Maryville lead to five in the final minute. The Saints sank seven of eight free throws to salt the game away.
