Ozark, Mo. – The Maryville baseball team's offense was held in check Sunday as they dropped a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference games to Drury University at US Ballball Park in Ozark, Mo. The Panthers needed extra innings to defeat the Saints in the opener 2-1 in eight innings and then held the Saints to two hits in a 3-2 win in the nightcap.
Game One:
The Saints broke out on top in the first inning as
Drake Lubin reached base on an error and moved to second on a wild pitch.
Cody Klotz ripped an RBI single to center field to score Lubin as it gave the Saints a 1-0 lead. The score remained that way until the Panthers scored a run in the sixth frame to tie the game at 1-1. Drury loaded the bases in the eighth and scored the winning run as a Panther was hit by a pitch to score the winning run and give Drury the win.

Game Two:
The Saints took advantage of a pair of walks and a balk as
Dalton Schumer lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to score Lubin and give Maryville a 1-0 lead after an inning of play. The Panthers answered with a run in the second to tie the game and then took the lead in the fifth with another run to make the score 2-1. The Saints battled back in the sixth frame as
Zack Ruckman drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the contest at 2-2. The Panthers won the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a walk-off single to score a runner from third.
