Box Score 2 Harrogate, Tenn. – The offense for the Maryville softball team looked like it was in mid-season form as they ripped 30 hits and four home runs as the Saints defeated Walsh University 12-4 in five innings and Lincoln Memorial 11-8 to open the 2019 season at Neely Field in Harrogate, Tenn. The opening game win over Walsh was the first collegiate win for head coach
Courtney Conley.
Game One vs Walsh University:
After giving up a pair of runs to Walsh in the top of the first inning, the Saints offense exploded for six runs in the home half of the inning. Maryville opened the frams with three straight singles and they came around to score on a
Jordan Michalski double to right center field to take an early 3-2 lead. Starting pitcher
Alyssa Callans helped her own cause with a solo shot to right to extend the lead to 4-2 and
DJ Aaron-Holman and
Emily Frankenreiter each added RBI doubles to give the Saints a 6-2 advantage. Maryville added a run in the second to push the lead to 7-2, the Cavaliers scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to cut the Maryville lead to 7-4. The offense continued to shine in the bottom of the fourth as
Samantha Hausl started the inning with a solo blast to right center to give Maryville an 8-4 lead. Callans once again helped herself with an RBI double and Aaron-Holman added a two-run double to push the Saints lead to 11-4.

Game Two vs. Lincoln Memorial:
The Saints pickup right where they left off in the second game of the day as they scored a run in the first frame and then nine runs over the next two innings.
Jaclyn Pasakarnis started the second frame with a walk and scored on a Frankenreiter double to take a 2-0 lead. The Saints then hit three straight RBI singles to extend the lead to 5-0. The Railsplitters cut the lead to 5-1 in the home half of the second, but Maryville exploded for five runs in the third as Aaron-Holman smashed a two-run blast and
Bri Livingston drilled a three-run shot to give the Saints a 10-1 advantage. LMU battled back over the next three innings to cut the Maryville lead to 10-8, but the Saints answered in the top of the sixth as
Shaina Kmetz opened the frame with a single and scored on a Pasakarnis double to push the score to 11-8.
