Box Score 2 Springfield, Ill. – The Maryville University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Illinois-Springfield Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Ill. The Saints saw a late inning rally fall short as they dropped the opener 7-6 in eight innings and then lost the nightcap 5-0 to the Prairie Stars.
Game One:
After the Prairie Stars took an early 1-0 lead after one inning of play, the Saints grabbed the lead in the top of the third frame.
Jaclyn Pasakarnis laced a two-run double into the gap in left center field to give Maryville a 2-1 advantage. Pasakarnis came home to score on an
Alyssa Callans single that put the Saints ahead 3-1. UIS answered in its half of the third with a pair of runs to tie the game at 3-3. The Prairie Stars regained the lead in the fourth with three runs to push the score to 6-3. Maryville tied the game in the sixth as
Emily Bruin hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-4.
DJ Aaron-Holman drew the game even with a two-run double down the left field line to make the score 6-6. The Prairie Stars won the contest in the eighth inning with a walk-off home run after Maryville stranded a pair of runners on base in the top of the inning.

Game Two:
After the two teams played to a scoreless tie through four innings, the Prairie Stars cracked the scoreboard in the fifth inning with a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. Maryville had an opportunity in the top of the sixth inning.
Hannah Tolley and
Bri Livingston opened the frame with singles, but Illinois-Springfield force a pair of strikeouts to get out of the inning. The Prairie Stars added three runs in the home half of the sixth to push the advantage out to 5-0.
