St. Louis – Maryville University senior Camdon Mercier (Du Quoin, Ill./Onley CC) has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Mercier is now eligible for the Academic All-American team that will be announced in June 5.
 
The award is designed to recognize the nation's top student/athletes for the work that they put in on the field and in the classroom. Mercier has a 3.83 cumulative GPA and is earning his Master's in Business Administration. Mercier is a mainstay in the Saints infield at third base and has aided Maryville to their first Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season championship. 
 
Mercier has played in 45 games this season and is third on the team in batting with a .315 average. He has a team-high 16 doubles on the year and is second on the squad with 53 hits. Defensively, Mercier recorded 37 put outs and added 66 assists on the year for a .904 fielding percentage.
 
Mercier has also excelled in the classroom with a 3.83 GPA and has been named to the Academic All-GLVC list the past two years.
 
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and have reached sophomore in athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
