St. Louis – Senior
Iwan Webster from the Maryville University men's soccer team has been invited to participate in the 2020 College Invitational Combine for elite collegiate soccer players. The event will take place at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo., Nov. 13-15.
The combine features college seniors and select underclassman as its participants. The players will be split into four teams for 60-70 minute matches that will take place throughout the weekend. Technical staff and scouts from nearly 40 Major League Soccer and United Soccer League clubs will be in attendance.
"With no MLS combine on the calendar, Sporting Kansas City is excited to host its own showcase for the country's top seniors and underclassmen," Sporting Kansas City technical director Brian Bliss said in a statement provided by the team. "The College Invitational Combine will give aspiring college players a platform to be seen, as many universities and conferences are not playing their fall seasons. With Sporting's central location and world-class facilities, we believe this is a tremendous opportunity for players and for clubs evaluating talent."
"We are incredibly happy for Iwan to have earned his way into the Combine", stated Saints Head Coach
David Korn. "This is an elite group of players from across college soccer, and his selection speaks highly to the growth and success he has achieved during his four years at Maryville."
"It's not by accident, or any secret how he's reached this point", continued Korn. "Iwan is incredibly disciplined and been very committed to reaching both his goal and the team's goals. He dedicates a ton of time to his development plan focusing on his work at each practice, in the weight room, video analysis, diet and nutrition, sleep and recovery, time in off season, and countless hours of extra work. His hard work has contributed to the success of our soccer program and he's used the resources at Maryville to launch him closer to reaching his next goal after graduation of playing professional soccer."
