Frankenreiter Named as Nominee for James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award

St. Louis – Senior Emily Frankenreiter (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South) has earned the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship award for the Maryville University softball team as announced by the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tuesday afternoon. Frankenreiter is one of 16 student-athletes from around the league in receiving this honor. 
 
Frankenreiter played in 18 games this spring with a .283 batting average. She was tied for first on the team with six doubles and scored eight times before the season ended due to COVID-19 concerns. She also earned GLVC Academic All-Conference honors the past three years.
 
Individuals must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two overall James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced on Monday, May 18.
