Gentry and O'Donnell Garner GLVC Honors

Sophomore Lexi Gentry of the Maryville University women's soccer team was selected to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference third team as voted upon by the league's coaches. This marks back-to-back seasons that Gentry has claimed third team honors. Senior Carly O'Donnell was selected as the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Nominee for the women's program.

Gentry started 14 of the 16 matches on the season and was sixth on the team with 1,181 minutes played. The San Diego, Calif., native had the third most goals on the year with three and tallied two assists to put her third on the team with eight points. The forward fired off a team high 39 shots, with 20 being on frame. Gentry notched the game winning goal against William Jewell in September and scored a wild Olimpico goal directly from a corner kick with 28 seconds left against Lewis to send the match to overtime where the Saints went on to win.

O'Donnell received the coveted nomination for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. The senior defender made 10 appearances on the season and was a key piece to the back line that kept the Saints in nearly every contest. The Arnold, Mo., native was chosen for this nomination because of her positive influence on and off the field. She distinguished herself through good sportsmanship, ethical behavior, high academic standing, and good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. She is now eligible to become one of the Maryville's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
