St. Louis - The Maryville wrestling team earned a split in a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference home duals Sunday in Moloney Arena. The Saints defeated Ouachita Baptist 28-18 and battled No. 3 McKendree before the Bearcats held on for a 25-15 win.
Anthony Pisciotta highlighted the day with a 2-0 record, including a win over the No. 2 ranked wrestler in the 125 weight class. Four Saints posted 2-0 marks on the day.

Pisciotta had a 9-1 major to start the Ouachita Baptist match, and
Austin Wadlow win via a forfeit at 133.
Tyler Stegall posted a fall for his 149 contest in 2:54. OBU won three matches but
Joey Williams won his 184 bout via a fall to give the Saints a 22-18 lead.
Chase Stegall won his 197 contest 7-2, and
Ryan Herman claimed a 6-1 decision to finish the match.

In the opening 125 match against McKendree, Pisciotta pulled the upset of second-ranked Christian Mejia with a 5-3 decision to give the Saints a quick 3-0 lead. The Bearcats won the next two weight classes until
Tyler Stegall posted a 3-0 shutout at 149. However, the Bearcats took three straight contests. Williams scored points at 184 with a 2-0 win. In the 197 bout,
Chase Stegall battled the third-ranked wrestler at 184 in Dan Filipek who edged Stegall 3-1 in sudden victory.
Ryan Herman posted a fall at 1:51 in the heavyweight classification to end the day.

The Saints are next slated to face William Jewell in a home dual Wednesday, Jan. 26. The match time has been moved up and the contest will start at 6 p.m. in Moloney Arena.
