Joey Williams and
Chase Stegall advanced to the 2022 NCAA Division II National Tournament out of the NCAA Super Regional IV Saturday in St. Charles, Mo. Williams took third place at the 184 weight classification, while Stegall also grabbed third place at 197. Maryville University is the host institution for the DII Nationals March 11-12, held at Chaifetz Arena on the campus of Saint Louis University.

Williams won his quarterfinal match via a 10-2 major decision but dropped his semifinal tilt. He claimed his consolation semi match with another 11-2 major to reach the third-place match. Williams defeated Gleason Mappes of Indianapolis 5-4 to clinch his berth to Nationals.

Stegall posted a 4-1 decision in his opener but lost his semifinal match. He bounced back to shut out his consolation semifinal opponent 10-0. In his third-place bout, Stegall recorded a 4-3 decision over Vinnie Scaletta of McKendree.

Anthony Pisciotta took fourth place at 125 as he had a tech fall and a pin in his first two matches. After a loss, he took a 7-4 decision but was beaten for third place.
Taylor Jokerst finished sixth at 141. He had two straight tech falls but dropped his final two matches in the consolation draw.

Bret Heil won fifth place at 174. He had a fall and a 9-7 decision to reach the semis. After a loss in the championship semis, he was edged in sudden victory in the consolation semifinals. He posted a 6-1 decision to take fifth over JD Johnson of Newman.

Ryan Herman also placed sixth in the heavyweights. He won his opener 2-1 but lost his next two matches. Herman was unable to take the mat for the fifth-place match as his day ended.

The Saints finished sixth in the team standings with 64.5 team points. Central Oklahoma won the Super Regional IV with 153 points, just ahead of Indianapolis.
