St. Louis – The Maryville wrestling team swept a pair of dual matches Saturday afternoon in Moloney Arena. The Saints roared past Davenport 48-3 and then eased past Findlay 30-9.

Sam Shafer was credited with the win at 125 as Davenport did not enter a wrestler in the weight class. Davenport won its only bout at 133 before
Taylor Jokerst at 141 posted a 17-0 tech fall.
Tyler Stegall dominated his 149 match with a fall in just 44 seconds. At 157,
Luke Ebers blanked his opponent en route to a 5-0 decision.

Donavan Whitted and
Bret Heil recorded consecutive falls at 165 and 174 in times of 2:35 and 1:19, respectively.
Joey Williams picked up a default victory at 184, while
Chase Stegall handled his 197 opposition with a 12-3 major.
Ryan Herman capped the victory over the Panthers with the fourth fall of the match in the heavyweight division in 1:54.

Findlay won the opener at 125 before HP Homfeld had a walkover in 133. Jokerst posted a 7-3 win at 141, before
Tyler Stegall recorded his second fall of the day at 149 at the 4:43 mark. Findlay claimed the match at 157 but Whitted worked for a 6-4 decision at 165.

Heil grinded out a 3-2 win at 174, and Williams glided to an 8-0 major at 184.
Chase Stegall claimed a 5-1 victory in the 197 classification, and Herman shut out his foe at 285 in a 4-0 decision.

The Saints will next be in action Wednesday, Jan. 18, as they host Indianapolis in a clash of nationally-ranked Great Lakes Valley Conference teams. Action begins in Moloney Arena at 7 p.m.
