SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Maryville University M1 hockey team recently completed a stretch of four games against Missouri State, going 3-1 over the last two weekends. The trio of victories pushed the Saints to 16-8 overall in 2022-23, including 10-4 on the road.

On Friday, Jan. 13, the Saints defeated the Bears at home on the strength of
Chad McIlwain's two-goal performance. McIlwain opened the scoring in the second period and tallied Maryville's last goal in a 5-1 win.
Ed Coffey picked up his eighth win of the season after saving 21 of 22 MSU shot attempts.

John Hogan's team followed up with a 7-2 win on the second night of the back-to-back with Missouri State. The Saints had six different goal scorers including
Luke Macleod who had two goals.
Johnny Massara tallied the win in between the pipes with 23 saves.

On the road the following weekend on Friday, Jan. 20, the Bears jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the first period before
Sam Edwards' goal three minutes into the third tied the game. Tj Prexler netted his 13
th of the season to take the lead and
Lucas Adams iced the game with an empty net goal at 19:41.

Missouri State bounced back on Saturday for a 6-1 win over the Saints.
Lucas Adams registered the only goal for his team, assisted by Mcilwain and
Cole Bohnet.

Next up for the M1 hockey team is the first of a two-game set with the University of Central Oklahoma beginning on Friday, Feb. 3. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Maryville University Ice Hockey Center.
