ST. LOUIS –
Tori Calvert's goal at 86:50 secured a 1-1 draw with McKendree University on Friday afternoon. The Saints are now 7-2-2 overall in 2023 and 5-1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Run of Play:
- Ulrika Bredin took the first shot on goal in the eighth minute, but she was turned aside by Bearcat goalkeeper Abby Tucker.
- Ashlyne Hunt used her speed to get behind the defense and tried another shot on goal at 13:23, but Tucker met her in the box and denied her with a sprawling save.
- In total, the Saints made the Bearcats make three saves in the first half while their defense did not allow one.
- The game picked up speed in the second half and it would be Katie Spotanski who found the back of the net first at 65:31, giving McKendree a 1-0 lead.
- Maryville came back with their best soccer of the game after that, earning two consecutive corner kicks, a dangerous free kick, and a shot on goal from Lexi Gentry at 85:55.
- With under five minutes remaining in the game, the Saints received another corner kick and put it into a box. Tori Calvert bumped in the loose ball to tie the game at 86:50 to earn the 1-1 draw.
