LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Wyatt Martin and Isabelle Calabio took home first-place finishes in a pair of Maryville swimming wins over Sterling College on Saturday. Both the men's and women's teams went 1-1 in a tri-meet with Sterling and the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan.

The men took down the Warriors 143-25 but fell to the Spires 194-57. Martin took the gold in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.31. He was also on the 200-yard medley relay team with Devon Tallent, Gavin Baldes, and Colin Fitzgerald who posted a 1:38.69 to earn second place.

Tallent took second place as an individual in the 100-yard backstroke with a 54.85, while Fitzgerald took the bronze in the same event and another bronze in the 100-yard freestyle (49.45). Xavier Harris and Jake Morelli rounded out the Maryville lineup with second-place finishes in their respective events as well.

Similar to the men, the women took down Sterling with a 118-39 final but fell to Saint Mary 201-42. Freshman
Isabelle Calabio stood out for the Saints, winning the 500-yard freestyle event with a 5:35.70 and took second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.46). She additionally contributed to the 200-yard freestyle and medley relay teams that took third.

Aspyn Howard also contributed to the squad as a freshman, taking silver in the 100-yard breaststroke with a final time of 1:17.71. Other notable finishes for the Saints were Maddie Bray's bronze in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:12.86), Paige Bolling's bronze in the 50-yard freestyle (27.96), and Olivia Kindle's third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:30.04).

Next up for Maryville swimming is a tri-meet hosted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday, Dec. 9. The Saints will take on UMSL and Quincy beginning at 1 p.m.
